Microsoft Teams Integration FAQ

Find answers to common questions about the WethosXO Microsoft Teams integration — from setup and access to using XO in chats, group conversations, and team channels for personalized workplace coaching.

OVERVIEW

The Microsoft Teams integration brings WethosXO — your personalized AI workplace coach — directly into your Teams environment. This FAQ covers the most common questions about getting set up, using XO in chats and channels, and troubleshooting any issues along the way.

GENERAL

What is the WethosXO Microsoft Teams integration?

The integration brings WethosXO — your personalized AI workplace coach — directly into Microsoft Teams. Instead of switching to the WethosAI platform, you can interact with XO right where you already communicate: in chats, group conversations, and team channels.

Do I need a separate login to use WethosXO in Teams?

No. Once the app is installed and added, you can start chatting with XO immediately — no separate login or context-switching required. However, your Microsoft Teams email address must match your WethosAI account email for XO to access your behavioral data.

What can WethosXO do inside Teams?

XO can help with quick insights about your work style and behavioral profile, profile lookups for teammates, collaboration recommendations for working with specific colleagues, it can access your calendar to help with meeting prep for both internal and external meetings based on attendees' Wethos Styles, channel-based collaboration on projects and initiatives, and summarizing channel and thread activity to help you catch up.

SETUP & ACCESS

Who sets up the integration?

An organization admin handles the setup through the WethosAI platform and the Microsoft Teams admin center. Team members do not need to complete the admin setup — once it's deployed, you just add the app and start using it.

How do I find and add WethosXO in Teams?

Go to the Apps page in Microsoft Teams, select Built for your org, find WethosXO, and click Add.

The app isn't showing up under "Built for your org." What do I do?

A few things to check: confirm with your admin that the app has been uploaded in the Teams admin center, verify that the app's availability settings include you or your group, and note that newly uploaded apps may take a few minutes to appear across your Teams instance.

Does my whole team get access automatically?

That depends on how your admin configured the app. The default setting makes it available to all users, but your admin can restrict availability to specific users or groups.

USING XO FOR PERSONAL INSIGHTS

How do I chat with XO directly?

After adding the app, open a direct chat with WethosXO and type your message. You can interact with XO just as you would on the WethosAI platform.

What should I ask XO about?

A direct chat with XO is currently focused on the mirror aspect of the Wethos flow, so start with prompts about yourself — for example, "tell me about myself." XO will provide a breakdown of your natural work style, leadership strengths, and areas to watch based on your behavioral profile.

USING XO IN GROUP CHATS

Can I use WethosXO in a group chat?

Yes. You can add WethosXO to any group chat or 1:1 conversation to get insights about colleagues and how to collaborate more effectively.

How do I ask about a teammate?

Add WethosXO to the chat, then @WethosXO and ask your question — for example: "@WethosXO tell me about @Marco and how we can best work together." XO will analyze your group's behavioral data and provide collaboration tips.

USING XO IN CHANNELS

Does WethosXO work in team channels?

Yes. You can @mention WethosXO in any team channel to start a conversation. XO works especially well in threaded discussions where you can go deeper on a topic.

What settings should I use when creating a channel for XO collaboration?

When creating a new channel, select Standard — Everyone on the team has access as the channel type, and choose the Threads layout. The Threads layout keeps conversations with XO organized by enabling reply-in-thread discussions.

How do threaded conversations work with XO?

Post a message in the channel and @mention WethosXO with your request. XO will respond, and you can click Reply in thread to continue the conversation in a focused thread. Keep @mentioning WethosXO within the thread to go deeper — XO maintains context throughout.

Can XO summarize a channel's activity?

Yes. In any channel, you can type something like "@WethosXO summarize this channel and the threads," and XO will generate a concise overview of the channel’s purpose, key decisions, and the status of each active thread. Just note that it can only summarize activity that has occurred since XO was added to the channel.

TROUBLESHOOTING

XO isn't responding or I'm getting errors. What should I check?

Make sure you have an active WethosAI platform account, verify that your email address matches across Microsoft Teams and WethosAI, and check with your admin that the integration is still active in the WethosAI admin settings.

I'm having connection issues during setup (as an admin).

Ensure you're signed into the correct Microsoft account with admin privileges, check that pop-up blockers aren't preventing the authentication window, and verify that your Microsoft 365 tenant allows third-party app installations. If the issue persists, try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration from the WethosAI platform.

XO doesn't seem to know my behavioral data.

This usually means your email addresses don't match. Your Microsoft Teams email must be the same as your WethosAI account email for XO to connect to your profile. Check with your admin if you're unsure.

TIPS

  • Coordinate with IT — Make sure your Microsoft 365 tenant allows third-party app installations before your admin begins setup.
  • Spread the word — Once deployed, let your team know WethosXO is available in Teams and where to find it (Apps → Built for your org).
  • Match your emails — Users must have the same email address in both Microsoft Teams and WethosAI for the integration to work properly.
  • Use threads in channels — Threaded conversations keep your discussions with XO organized and make it easy for teammates to jump into specific topics.
  • Ask XO to summarize — If you've been away from a channel, ask XO for a summary instead of scrolling through every message.
